We’re ready to improve. We just need support.
As our results show, Way to Grow utilizes a proven system that generates positive outcomes for children and families. We are proud of what we accomplish daily, and our numbers show that we strive for excellence and often surpass state averages.
Though they are rewarding, we cannot rest on these results. To run the premier early-learning program in the Twin Cities, we’d like to do even more. To hold ourselves accountable, we’ve set new goals to offer even more help to our families.
We aim to do more.
97% of Way to Grow newborns will be born at normal birth weight or above vs. 92.4% of all children in Minneapolis (Source: MN Department of Health — 2008 MN County Health Tables, Natality Table 2: Prematurity and Low Birth Weight of Singleton Births in Minnesota by State and County, 2007).
85% of Way to Grow parents without a high school diploma will read to their children vs. 41% of parents without a high school diploma nationwide (Source: Federal Interagency Forum on Child and Family).
85% of Way to Grow children will be prepared for kindergarten in 2011 vs. 59% of children deemed kindergarten ready in Minneapolis in 2008 (Source: MN Department of Education — Minnesota School Readiness Study: Developmental Assessment at Kindergarten Entrance, Fall 2008).
85% of Way to Grow teen mothers will graduate from high school vs. 64% of teen mothers nationwide (Source: Annie E. Casey Foundation).
We’re extending our reach.
Research has shown that a few years of inferior education are powerful enough to wipe out previous program gains. Therefore, Way to Grow has extended our reach to children up to third grade with our Great by Eight Elementary Education Program. This will help stabilize education efforts, and eliminate the “fade out” effect of decreasing test scores when pre-kindergarten programming ends.
But we can’t do this alone. We need your help to get us there.
